Caroline Moser: Independent Researcher and Consultant

Welcome to my website. Its purpose is to introduce you to my research and capacity building work, as well as to make many of my publications open accessible

I am an urban social anthropologist and social policy specialist with more than forty years’ experience in academic research, teaching and training. Recent research has focused on the assets of the urban poor, their accumulation and poverty reduction; their adaptation to climate change; their transnational accumulation associated with international migration; and finally the implementation of asset planning in cities of the south. It also includes extensive research on urban violence, most recently as the principal investigator of a four city project on ‘Understanding the tipping points of urban conflict’. Recent projects have used participatory research methodology – with capacity building of local researchers undertaken in Colombia, Chile and Kenya, and currently in a global project undertaken by WIEGO. Throughout I have continued research and policy-focused work on gender planning and development. read more..
