Independent Researcher and Advisor

Welcome to my website. Its purpose is to introduce you to my research, advisory and film work.

As an urban social anthropologist and social policy specialist I have more than forty years working on the interrelationship between theory and practice around the three main urban development themes of gender, asset accumulation and violence and conflict.

My current academic positions

  • Emeritus Professor, the University of Manchester (UoM) (since 2012)
  • Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (2012)
